Here are examples of student growth over the course of one semester (18) weeks.  Each student in a Drawing I class produced an uninstructed self portrait over a short period of class time.  The students were issued mirrors, paper and pencil to complete the task.  I observed the students working on the drawing and took notes in order to assess their strengths and short comings regarding their drawing skill.  Having this understanding helped me to emphasize student specific skills to improve their understanding and to achieve the desired outcome.

After 16 weeks of instruction in a verity of pencil techniques and hours of practice one different projects the students were instructed on  how to draw the human face through demonstration and youtube video from "Proko" to offer the students a different point of view.  Next student worked on their self portraits and showed a marked improvement in their skill level and better developed observation skills. In their own words "Wow, I really have improved."
